New Year

Happy New Year to all my followers!  I have been posting infrequently for a few months, but I’m still here, doing all the other things I usually write about:  trying new sushi joints, taking in the sensory overload that is Toronto’s shopping experience (who went out for the Boxing Day sales, guys?) and doing modeling work that comes my way.

I have intended to post more of my modeling events and shots over the past months, but like everything else, I have the pictures and haven’t done the posts.  However, I did this one for D’Avi Luxury Knitwear just before Christmas and thought I would put up a couple of the photos.  I enjoyed working with this designer who is a true artisan, and gave me a whole new appreciation for what is possible with knits!

Out with the Uniform, in with Dress-Down Day!

At my school we have uniform but once a month there’s a “grub day” which is a day for us to wear whatever we want.  So, while every other day requires no thought at all, grub days are the cause of much deep thinking.  Therefore, whenever I have a grub day, it is a mini-“EVENT”, and I will probably post what I wore.  For my school’s grub day last Thursday, this is what I decided to wear:

I just got the knapsack from Aldo at the mall, and its pattern contains turquoise and shades of purple and violet, so I chose my Joe Fresh bright jeans and my batwing shirt to pick up those colours.  The scarf picks up the violet again.  Also, the faux leather straps and details on the knapsack are a lighter shade of brown like my braided brown belt, so I put on the belt . . . .

I have my Bare Traps combat boots on with them (never get tired of them!).  And, for your viewing pleasure, I located some flowers the same colour as my shirt to take my outfit photos 🙂

Mirror, mirror on the wall…

Do you wear uniform?  Do you have special days to dress differently, or casual, at your school?

RETAIL ALERT!!!  If you live in, or visit, the Toronto area, take note that J. CREW‘s factory store opened two days ago in the Vaughan Mills Mall!  You will find it filled with bright saturated colours at a price point slightly above the neighbouring Banana Republic factory store.  It’s perfect for future dress-down days or casual Fridays at the office.
